Going to Philadelphia for the first time - where should I stay and what should I do?

My wife and I (early 30s) will be in Philadelphia in mid-June and basically our first time. What area should stay inside? We don 't plan on getting a car so we' d like to be within walking distance of public transport and restaurants and views. If you have a particular recommendation of the hotel, we are budgeting $ 150 per night. Hotwire can get me into the city center of Sheraton for $ 120/night; Good hotel, location and distribution? As for what to do, we 'll have the four days of open play tourist. With the exception of the bell of freedom and the two famous cheesesteak places, what are some other must-do 's? If you obtain a car for a day where you would suggest going with him? or maybe there 's enough to make a car and isn' t necessary? ¿Casinos next? ¿Malls in the plug? ¿Festivals / concerts / events that are in 6 / 17 - 6 / 20? In Philly, we are traveling to C.C. Amtrak are $ 43/person and it takes 2 hours. Is the three best options we should look at? Or ride Amtrak on any slopes?
